Laser Resurfacing

The face is deeply reflective of so very many things, but it is not always an accurate indicator of your age. The state of your skin is impacted by everything from sunlight and air to hormonal changes in your body, and the need to get skin resurfacing can be something you are facing every time you face the mirror. Rather than using harsh chemicals or abrasive methods that can leave your skin damaged and can be painful, laser resurfacing offers a safe, gentle, and effective method of face resurfacing that can be done in a matter of minutes.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Systems

At Navarre Wellness, we provide clients laser resurfacing using the DeepFX and ActiveFX CO2 laser skin resurfacing systems developed by Lumenis. These CO2 skin resurfacing solutions use fractional lasers to provide noticeable benefits addressing various facial skin issues ranging from fine lines and wrinkles to texture and uneven skin tone. Each system is developed to affect different layers of the skin, penetrating to varying depths, depending on the specific issue being treated.

Unlike many other laser resurfacing systems, the Lumenis laser skin treatment was uniquely developed to enable customized treatments for specific skin issues and skin types, ensuring a level of precision and power that optimizes comfort and requires less healing time.

Laser-Focused Results

The fractional laser is used to create microscopic channels that then initiate the production process of new collagen and elastin fibers in the tissues of the skin, resulting in deep tissue regeneration that significantly improves the appearance and elasticity of the skin. Changes include the reduction of the appearance of the pitting caused by acne scarring, lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and evening skin tone to minimize areas of discoloration from age spots and freckles.

Laser Resurfacing Session

Each CO2 laser resurfacing session requires approximately 20-30 minutes to perform during an outpatient appointment. To minimize discomfort, local anesthetic will be used to numb the treatment area, and use of protective eyewear is necessary in order to prevent damage to the eyes. Some patients may feel sensations of warmth when the laser is applied to the skin. The treatment may cause some slight discomfort and generally takes about a week of downtime.

Skin will be warm and may have become slightly swollen or red immediately following the treatment, though such effects are largely dependent on the level of treatment received. A daily skincare regimen will be prescribed in order to encourage healing to maximize the lasting effects of the treatment.

Illuminating Effects

Changes are noticeable immediately after the first DeepFX and ActiveFX laser skin rejuvenation sessions. As the skin heals a marked improvement in wrinkles, fine lines, skin tone, and texture will be visible, and continued improvement is generally seen for up to 18 months following the procedure.

As with all procedures, medical history should be taken into consideration before laser resurfacing treatments are performed. For some individuals, contraindications may cause risks including changes in pigmentation, textural changes, redness, infection, or scarring. At Navarre Wellness, we encourage our clients to be fully informed about their own risks and need for treatment and to consult with us regarding their medical history and raise any concerns they might have. We feel confident in our ability to provide them with the best possible care and offer them the safest, most effective solutions for their concerns so that they are fully satisfied with the results they achieve.
