Skin resurfacing at Skin Solutions includes chemical peels, microdermabrasion and treatments using the Revitalight Skin Care System.

Chemical Peels

Chemical skin-peeling has been performed for many years to treat a variety of skin disorders.  Conditions such as sun damage, wrinkling, and uneven pigmentation may be treated with this non-invasive techniques.   Mild scarring and certain types of acne may also be treated with chemical peels.  In addition, pigmentation of the skin in the form of sun spots, age spots, liver spots, freckles, blotchiness due to taking birth control pills, and skin that is dull in texture and color may be improved with chemical peeling.  Areas of sun-damaged skin and scaling patches may improve after chemical peeling as well. Sunscreens and sun blocks must be used in conjunction with chemical peels in order to optimize the results and prevent side-effects.  Types of chemical peels available include:

Derma-Peel:  This is our most popular skin treatment.  This glycolic peel improves your complexion by removing dead skin and unclogging pores, resulting in a smooth and soft look.  This treatment may be used for all skin types and is a great way to keep your skin healthy.

Derma-Peel Plus:  This mandeleic acid peel works on the deeper layers of the skin to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, sun damage and acne.  It is good for all skin types.

Glow & Go:  Attending a special function?  This facial treatment will get you noticed.  Your face will have a healthy glow and your complexion will look fantastic!  The name of this treatment speaks for itself.

Teen Treatment:  This treatment starts with a skin analysis, extractions, deep cleansing and a custom peel that is perfect for the adolescent complexion.  A personalized skin care plan is also included.

Med-Peel:  This salicylic acid treatment targets the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate the skin's renewal processes.  This peel is great for sun damaged or acne affected skin and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Obagi Blue Peel : The Obagi Blue Peel System is used in conjunction with the Obagi Nu-Derm System to enhance the effects of the peel and to sustain healthier, younger-looking skin. The peel uses Trichloracetic Acid (TCA) as the active ingredient mixed with the patented Blue Base from Obagi.   This peel removes a thin surace layer of damaged skin.  It improves skin tightness, making the skin smoother and clearer.  It is appropriate for all skin types and colors and is perfect for those clients who do not need a full cosmetic face lift but want to improve skin tone and texture.  Your skin's appearance should continue to improve for the next four to six weeks, becoming firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier and more youthful looking.

Extractions:  Comedones are blocked sebaceous glands (blackheads and whiteheads) which can be extracted by our aesthetician.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is the use of a special blade to exfoliate the skin and remove the fine, vellus hairs which grow on the face.  It leaves the skin incredibly smooth and soft and can be added to any facial treatment at your request.

Medical-Grade Microdermabrasion

This procedure is a comprehensive approach to skin care that is non-surgical, safe and effective. Gentle peeling using a controlled application of a diamond coated abrasion device is used to soften fine lines, lighten age spots and improve skin texture and color. Your skin appearance is enhanced through a course of weekly sessions. Improvement continues throughout the treatment program, which may be also used in combination with other topical agents for added benefit.

Microdermabrasion is most effective for patients in the early stages of aging, patients of all ages can also benefit.  Microdermabrasion can reduce mild acne scarring and hyperpigmentation, improve the appearance of poorly tectured skinf , fine lines, and large or clogged pores.  Microderm can be used in all skin colors and types.  Our medical-grade, non-particle microdermabrasion unit does not use sand or aluminum oxide crystals. The use of these crystals has raised safety issues since these particles can be inhaled and may have the potential to cause future problems in the lungs and eyes.
