The Wellness Center Weight Loss Program

Weight loss at The Wellness Center is not your average program.  The initial visit includes a consultation with Dr. Svendsen, a consultation with our weight loss counselor, a one month supply of supplements, a B-12 injection, medications if indicated, a Power Plate session and a session in the Sunlighten Far Infrared sauna.  You will also receive a test of your body composition and your resting metabolic rate.  Weekly follow up visits are similar.  Dr. Svendsen is a member of the American Society of Bariatric (weight loss) Physicians (www.asbp.org) and regularly participates in Continuing Medical Education for weight loss.  Call today to schedule an appointment at 850-936-8343 and discover what sets us apart from the competition!

What about the HCG Diet?

Dr. Svendsen and the staff at The Wellness Center do not believe that the HCG diet is safe or truly effective.  There were actually very well designed studies done in the past which show that the use of HCG is no better than placebo in the treatment of overweight and obestity.  The American Society of Bariatric Physicians recommends against the use of HCG as a dietary supplement and HCG use has been banned for use in a number of states.  The FDA also recently banned the use of over the counter HCG preparations.  We feel that the low carbohydrate diet offered in our program can provide effective weight loss in a safe manner and can provide long term weight control and health benefits.

Power Plate Vibrational Exercise

The Wellness Center at Navarre encourages all patients to participate in a regular exercise regimen.  We understand how difficult this can be in our hectic lives.  To accommodate the various fitness levels of our patients, we offer the Power Plate.

Vibrational exercise is not a new concept.  It was initially developed for use in the space program to help astronauts maintain bone and muscle mass while in space.  The Power Plate consists of a platform which vibrates at high frequency in three planes.  This causes very rapid contractions of multiple muscle groups throughout the body.  The Power Plate builds bone and muscle, burns fat, improves circulation and provides a sense of relaxation and well being.

The Power Plate can be used by people of all levels of fitness, including those people confined to wheelchairs.  The routines can be adjusted to meet the needs of everyone.  The sessions can be as brief as 15 minutes three times weekly with marked results.
