What is in BOTOX?

BOTOX® Cosmetic contains tiny amounts of a highly purified botulinum toxin protein refined from the bacterium, Clostridium botulinum. Different products will have different approved dosages, so they can’t be substituted for one another. Also, keep in mind that there is no approved “generic” BOTOX.

What are the benefits of Botox?

BOTOX® goes below the skin’s surface to stop wrinkles where they start: the movement of muscles under the skin. You may not even realize it, but you are making hundreds of facial expressions each day. Every muscle movement affects the skin at the surface . BOTOX® relaxes these muscles and prevents new “expression lines” from forming. BOTOX® can be paired with other facial treatments (for wrinkles, such as facial rejuvenation, dermaplaning and other options that improve the tone and texture of the skin’s surface. Ask about extending the impact of your favorite treatment by pairing it with Botox!

What side effects were commonly seen in clinical studies?

A small percentage of patients experienced eyelid drooping or slight swelling as side effects. Other reported side effects can include discomfort and injection sites, dry mouth, headaches, neck pain, vision problems and allergic reactions. Talk to your provider about your potential risks before treatment.

How long will my BOTOX® appointment take?

Your first visit should include a facial analysis and full consultation to determine your concerns and goals and what treatment will be right for you. The actual BOTOX® injection process takes only 10 to 15 minutes.

How many injections will I receive?

After your consultation, your provider will be able to tell you the number of injections you’ll need. For the crow’s feet around the eyes , it usually takes three injections per side. Frown lines usually require five injections into muscles in your forehead for optimal results.

How much does BOTOX® treatment cost?

The BOTOX® itself is one part of the cost, but the expertise of your provider is another. Look for a provider who is licensed and trained and has specific experience treating patients with BOTOX® Cosmetic. Reputable providers will develop a treatment plan that is right for you and your goals.

How soon will I notice results? How long do they last?

Most people notice results within 24 to 48 hours. Your new, smoother face will last up to four months!

Does BOTOX® have a long recovery time?

BOTOX® has minimal downtime. Most people return to regular activities the same day. Your provider can give you specific aftercare instructions.

Can men receive BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment?

Of course! When it comes to frown lines, almost 1 in 5 BOTOX® recipients are men. Men also constitute 1 in 10 BOTOX® users for crow’s feet.
